The Early Church Docetism
The Early Church

A tendency in the early church which regarded the humanity of Christ as apparent rather than historically real.

There is slight evidence of this tendency in late portions of the New Testament (e.g., 1 John 4:1-3; 2 John 7) and evidence that it exercised some appeal among early Christians. This impulse came to fullest expression among Christians influenced by Gnosticism.
