One of Oxford's many colleges

Oxford was the location of religious organizations from the eighth century. The university of Oxford was founded in the latter part of the twelfth century. The university won fame as a place of theological study in the thirteenth century and was home to monks of several religious orders. William of Occam was among its famed medieval theologians.
