Bohemia was evangelized from Moravia and thus became Roman Catholic by about 1000. The Christianization of Poland began in the tenth century with the marriage of one of its leading dukes to a Christian woman, Dobrawa. By the twelfth century the nation was firmly Roman Catholic. In 955 Magyar expansion was halted by Emperor Otto I. This brought the Magyars of Hungary into contact with Latin Christianity. The Catholicization of Hungary was completed by King Stephen who was designated king of the Hungarians by the pope in 1000.
