Menno Simons joined
the struggling anabaptist movement
in 1536. He gathered and led anabaptist congregations in Holland for
decades thereafter. He emphasized believer's baptism,
the communal character of the Christian congregation, the congregational
nature of the Christian fellowship, non-resistance to violence, and
Christian refusal to serve in political office. His leadership stabilized
and shaped the inheritance of much of the radical reformation.
